When we think of Mitsubishi, its often the Lancer Evolution which comes to mind. Quite simply because of the reputation the Evo holds. Each and every generation of the Evolution has lived up to the status left behind its predecessor. For such a reason, it is understandable that Evos are the center of attention among the Mitsubishi family. As a result, a huge shadow is cast upon the rest of the Mitsu line up. Non-Evo Lancers are usually the ones with the most pressure to live up to their immediate Evo sibling. Yet, despite the looming shadow, this Calvin Baker Yeung’s Lancer has been able to speak up for itself to show that a true underdog can get down.

This Lancer not only sets the bar high for its fellow Lancers, but also for Evolutions. Calvin’s Lancer is sitting nice and low thanks to a set of BC Racing BR Type coilovers with a square setup of 18×8.75 XXR 527′s wrapped in 215/40/18 Falken 912′s. As you can see, his wheels have been custom powder-coated ‘baby blue’ to set it apart from the rest. Like most people in the fitment culture, Calvin has gone through many adjustments prior to his current setup. Through numerous trial-and-error processes, he never lost hope and instead constantly pushed the envelope with his Lancer.

Hard work pays off and Calvin’s Lancer is finally getting the attention it deserves. With time, money, and effort, this non-Evo Lancer has been built from the exterior to the interior to stand tall for it’s fellow non-Evo’s. On a side note, don’t forgot to join us this weekend at our 4th Annual Fitted Lifestyle Event. Calvin is showing some love for the event too!

When some of us think of Thailand, we think of the beautiful scenery and the Muay Thai martial art, but there is a very large car community in the country. Personally, I have seen many crazy VIP Style builds coming out of Thailand, but when I got in contact with my friend Nukool, he introduced me to a world of crazy fitted cars all around Thailand; excluding the famous VIP builds.

What really caught our eyes was Nukool’s personal car, an AE100 Toyota Corolla. This car is found to be most peoples winter beaters locally in Toronto, but Nukool embraced his Rolla and did his custom build to make a crazy fitted car. We had to ask Nukool, why did he pick this Corolla? He responded:

“I had a personal connection with this car from when I was younger. I grew up with it , as it was my relative’s taxi cab. When I came of age to build a car, I wanted to do it to an AE100. Parts for it were cheap enough to fit into my budget, and there is a wide variety of parts available for it here in Thailand. There are a wide variety of body parts but I can gladly say that I am the first person to bring the AE100 into the fitment game in Thailand.”

The fitment part for the car was the difficult part. There was a lot of customizing just to get the car to drive with this fitment. First the frame had to be hardened and a AE101 Toyota Levin frame was modified onto the car. To get the height , there wasn’t a standard coilover available and able to achieve the camber specs. The AE101 Shock Absorbers were used but was also customized extensively via shortening the mounts, adjusting the mount bolts to allow camber adjustment. Even after this, the car was not low enough, so Nukool adjusted the car frame to sit even lower with more custom frame work by his friends at REAL LOW.

After all that work, it allowed him to fit these very aggressive and unique 16″x9″ Deerfield Wheels in et-13 offset . They were made in 5×114, so Nukool changed the hubs from 4×100 to the 5×114 to fit the new wheels. Finally, he has some 195/45/16 Nankang NS2 while the camber is at -9 up front and -7 in the rear. With all the extensive work done to the car, we feel it really paid off. We finally asked if he had any more plans for the car, and he told us more fabricating to the control arms and adjustments to the coilovers for a lower and more aggressive fitment.

If you haven’t heard of SR Auto Group, they are an exotic shop in British Columbia that specializes in unique builds that some of us only dream of. Recently, they teamed up with Open Road Scion to build a special FR-S for the Vancouver International Auto Show. SR Auto Group proposed to do the very first Rocket Bunny FR-S in Canada. Open Road jumped on the idea and the rest is what you see here! Since the release of the FR-S, or GT86 in Japan, there has been so much buzz over the FR-S Rocket Bunny Kit. It gives the car a wider and more aggressive stance while tying in the racing culture the 86 was designed for.

The build quickly began after Open Road dropped off a brand new FR-S to the SR Auto Group showroom, and they went ahead with ordering the appropriate parts. First order was to cut the fenders to adapt the wide body Rocket Bunny flares. A new front lip, side valences, rear diffuser, and signature big GT Wing completed the Rocket Bunny transformation. To add to the racing image of the car, they added a Seibon CF hood, fog light covers, and CF APR Racing mirrors. These fine tune touches helped bring the overall appearance of the car together.

An aggressive footprint was required to complement the kit so custom spring rate coilovers from BC Racing were introduced into the fold. The 10k spring rates matched up with the Rays Engineering rims help finish a subtle but very drivable stance. The fitment, as is with all the Rocket Bunny cars, is made for looks along with performance dishing out concave Rays Gram Light 57 Extremes in Winning Blue; definitely a winning combination.

To finish the performance off on the car, SR Auto Group installed a pair of Invidia exhausts which are tucked away nicely under the rear diffuser. All of the finer details combine nicely to create this beautiful piece of machinery.

We’re back! After 3 successful years at Downsview Park, it’s time for us to move to a larger location which can house our growing numbers! This year, we’re excited to announce the 4th Annual Fitted Lifestyle event will be at the Brampton Fairgrounds (12942 Heart Lake Rd, Caledon, ON L7C 2J3 Canada) on Saturday May 25, 2013! Located just 5 minutes north of Highway 410, the Fairgrounds provides us a larger property with both indoor and outdoor facilities! Rest assured, the roads to the Fairgrounds are smooth and it’s location is quickly accessible from the Greater Toronto Area!

A larger venue means we can provide a larger show! This year, we will be including a Free Indoor RC track sponsored by TBA Apparel, live music from Keep It Live Entertainment’s DJ Woo, an interactive text-to-vote award courtesy of PAS mag’s Tuner Battlegrounds Live, and Food Truck alley served by The Feisty Jack and Smoke’s Poutinerie!

Of course, all our famed Custom Trophies are up for grabs and this year, we’ve added more categories for increased chances to win! Also, every attendee receives a raffle ticket for our giveaways. Our sponsors have graciously donated a wide-range of apparel and automotive parts as prizes!

This year, we are introducing admission fees to support the operating costs at the Fairgrounds. Admission to Fitted is a low fee of $15 CAD/person at the door and $12 CAD/person for advanced tickets. Advanced tickets can be purchased as of Monday April 15, 2013 at Righteous Garage (519) 654-6587 and Nextmod Toronto (416) 800-9139. In addition, partial proceeds from admission will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society! Your attendance not only supports the fitment scene but aids Cancer research!

Fitted begins promptly at 11:30am! Please arrive early to secure a parking spot. Each year, attendance has grown and reached capacity so we highly encourage you to plan your cruise appropriately! Peep last year’s Canibeat video for an idea of how quickly attendance builds! For further encouragement, the FIRST 1000 attendees will receive a free giveaway while supplies last!

Note: Please drive responsibly to the event. Local Police authorities have been informed of our presence so speeding will NOT be tolerated.

We’re going to start this season with a bang! Thank you to everyone for the continued support and we’ll see you at the 4th Annual Fitted Lifestyle event!

I apologize for the brief hiatus on site features but we’ve been mad busy prepping for our 4th Annual Fitted event this May 25, 2013. Lots of new exciting details are in the works and we promise to have a big announcement soon! During our time off, we’ve had a large number of feature submissions and as usual, only the best make the site! This one comes from the land of the rising sun from our good friend, Ryo Kaneta, who writes and shoots for USDM Freax magazine. Ryo shot this feature exclusively for S&P readers and we’d like to thank him for this very sick piece! If you haven’t peeped USDM Freax, you MUST get yourself a copy. The magazine is printed on stock similar to the thick JDM HyperRev bibles and is full of fitted cars that we all love! All I gotta say is, the Japanese know how to do it right!

Ryo shot this particular car from the warehouse of K-BREAK, a renowned VIP tuner in Japan. This 3rd generation Honda Civic hatchback, dubbed the “Wonder Civic”, belongs to K-BREAK’s very own president, Mr. Oobayashi! Who would’ve thought he was a die-hard Honda fan at heart?! In case you’re wondering what exactly makes this Civic the “Wonder”, you’re not alone. I had the same questions and was schooled by Ryo on some Japanese terminology on how they’ve named these generations of Civics. Apparently, the names started at the 2nd generation Honda Civic and goes as follows:

2nd generation – SUPER CIVIC
3rd generation – WONDER CIVIC
4th generation (EF) – GRAND CIVIC
5th generation (EG) – SPORTS CIVIC
6th generation (EK) – MIRACLE CIVIC
7th generation (EU) – SMART CIVIC

So what makes the Wonder Civic generation so special? Old school Honda enthusiasts should know that this was actually the first Honda to win the Japanese “Good Design Grand Prize” and the “Japan Car of the Year” when it first debuted. These are accolades that placed Honda on the map, helping to produce better Civics on each consecutive generation. The Japanese and especially Honda, consider the Wonder Civic to be an epic legend in its own right.

Coming from the president of K-BREAK, we’re not surprised this Civic is far from stock. The car has been modified to fit what the Japanese call the “Real Sports Style”, comparable to the Group A Mugen Racing Civic. As you can tell from the pictures, race-spec is in full effect!

The photos that Ryo captured of this car are outstanding. We can really tell Mr. Oobayashi has taken the utmost care in preserving the legendary integrity of this car. It’s definitely a time capsule piece in an amazing condition!

We hope you enjoyed this feature from Ryo and our friends at USDM Freax! Special thanks to Ryo Kaneta for shooting and sharing this feature with S&P!

We all have our favorite rides, favorite builds, and favorite crews. The popular ones represent quality consistently throughout their ranks, gaining them Internet notoriety and that hood famous steez from blog to blog. I can remember some of my favorite crews from the past were RJ Devera’s Team Kozoku and the Bay area’s Z.Team Yossi. Then came Tiiiteboy Racing who popularized the JDM Honda scene through Jason Katman. Next up were the heavy hitters, the big dogs together as Art N Motion. All of these teams or crews as you may call it contributed or influenced the styling of tuners worldwide.

In today’s aggressive fitment culture, there are a slew of crews. Some small and some who roll deep with worldwide street cred. Well, I’m here to talk about one such crew, our local hometown heroes – Level One. If you’ve been sleeping under a rock, this Canadian crew has been pumping out insane builds on all your favorite blogs including Canibeat and Stancenation. We’ve featured some of their cars as well, and during a recent chat with Galen Wan, one of the founding members of Level One, I was informed that they had recently established a Japanese chapter! Of course, I had to know what was up so Galen connected me with Level One Japan crew leader, Hiroki Matsuo, to get the skinny on how they roll in the land of the rising sun!

Level One Japan recently started after Hiroki and a large majority of Japanese Honda S2000 tuners took notice of the Level One cars. Hiroki had an idea about starting the Level One Japan chapter so he dropped Galen a note with a few pictures of their rides. The respect was mutual and needless to say, Galen and the rest of Level One liked what they saw! Level One Japan was officially established!

The crew in Japan consists of approximately 12 active members. Although the majority of the members are pushing AP1/AP2s, the crew is not restricted to the S2000. In fact, there are other makes including a S14 and FD3S.

As stated before, the builds represent quality and are undeniably clean. In fact, any car within the Level One Japan chapter could easily be imagined rolling the streets of Canada and nobody would know they were from Japan. Just a testimony to show that both chapters share the same design ethic and taste!

I’d like to thank Galen, Hiroki, Masanori, and the entire Level One Japan crew for allowing us to see a glimpse of how they do in the far east. We wouldn’t be featuring these cars if they didn’t represent the best and Level One Japan certainly doesn’t disappoint!

Is that a LEVEL One sticker on a Bimmer E90 M3? It sure is, and this beauty belongs to Dan Banh – hailing from the Internet/hood famous Level One crew! That’s right, Dan is at it again. For those of you who don’t know, Dan is a Toronto local who has built a reputation of creating a number of neck-breaking whips. You most likely know Dan for his love of Honda and all things S2000. That time has come and past and this time he’s decided to change it up. This is Dan’s stunning E90 BMW M3 sedan.

No doubt, Dan isn’t wasting any time. As you can see, the M3 is already slammed on stock wheels to give it a flush look, even during the winter season! Besides dropping his E90, he’s also begun exhaust modifications to make this clean looking M3 sound mean.

Not much is known about Dan’s plans for the M3 (edit: he’s keeping it secret) but in typical “danio” fashion, he promises to break necks this season. As enthusiasts, it’s tough to endure our winter weather as we abstain from anything car-related. However, we hope these pictures of Dan’s whip motivates you for the upcoming season just months away. Be sure to stay tuned for more local builds in progress and of course to witness whatever Dan has in plan next.

We had a great time providing our design input and ensuring the vehicles illustrated the aggressive fitment culture the Fitted Lifestyle represented! The movie debuted on MuchMusic to a National audience on February 5, 2013 @ 7PM EST and was streamed online at MuchMusic.com.

By now, you’ve probably seen quite a few pics of Pat Cyr’s Drift FR-S representing Cyrious Garageworks x Scion Racing. The first photo leaked onto the web through Scion Canada during the first week of January 2013, quickly followed by official photos from Ste at Shutterlit. That was just the start, the official debut at the Montreal International Auto Show soon garnered the Cyrious team the media coverage it fully deserved. We’ve got nothing but love for the Cyrious team but a quick search on Google will get you a slew of automotive journalist coverage that I refuse to regurgitate. We promise to touch base with Pat, Dan, Jover, and the Drift Posse team as soon as the power-plant and car is finalized.

What we do want to talk about is the jaw-dropping and aggressive wide-body kit that the Cyrious FR-S is adorning on it’s sculpted body. In case you didn’t know, the wide-body kit was designed by another Canadian local who is quickly making his name in the scene – Matthew Law. The kit is a multi-piece affair produced under his auto design-house dubbed ML24. In conjunction with 20hz Audio, the kit will be produced in many package variations as of February 2013. ML24 has made the kit pieces easy to obtain if you’re into separate purchases versus the full-blown 8-piece FR-S/BRZ wide-body kit, which is limited to 10 sets by the way.

If you’ve been with us since the beginning, you’ll remember we did a special edition capsule collection tee from Matt. Back then we knew his talent would go far and he didn’t disappoint! Quite frankly, the kit is perfect. It literally seduces you into purchasing a FR-S/BRZ. Level of want is HIGH! With that said, Matt decided to torture us with a custom rendering of a Stretch & Poke! version of the ML24 car. We dubbed this “Mag Blue-kake!” This is exactly our iteration if we had access to a FR-S/BRZ (hint hint – Scion Canada and Subaru Canada).

The ML24 kit design inspiration comes from the Japanese Bozusuku style which is totally up our alley of aggressive wheel fitment. Matt wanted to emphasize more muscularity with the OEM fenders so that’s where the wide-body wheel arches came into play. We love the rivets which run along the entire perimeter of the arches. Although not included, the customer can choose any Rivet size they desire for their own custom look of retro-race vs clean show-car. Kit installed, the car will widen by 40mm up front and 65mm in the rear. The ML24 recommendation is to run 19″ wheels for this kit. Dear Scion or Subaru, help us shoehorn a set of 19×9 and 19×10.5 wheels onto this car. Let’s make this a reality! (end shameless begging – Scion or Subaru, call me).

You can find more information about the wide-body ML24 kit at their website – www.ml24.net. There’s product pricing and a large amount of meticulous information regarding the conceptualization, design and fabrication process. We have a feeling this is just the start of many good things to debut from the ML24 camp. Thanks for sharing with us Matt and also wishing we had a FR-S/BRZ in our greedy little hands!
